The short answer: a living room with warm light does not depend on a single lamp. Combine three layers: a general light that spreads evenly, a task light for reading and an ambient light that creates atmosphere. Choose bulbs of 3,000 K or less, the tone of a warm yellow light.
The three layers
| Layer | What it is for | Example piece and its specification |
|---|---|---|
| General | Seeing the whole room without harsh shadows | Zelia Lamp: 28 W LED, up to 1,350 lm, 3,000 K yellow tone |
| Task | Reading or working in a corner | Alabaster Table Lamp: 3,500 K LED, warm white, CRI 90 |
| Ambient | Creating atmosphere with indirect light on the wall | Roma Wall Light and Viola Lumière, with warm indirect light |
Why temperature matters
Kelvin measures the colour of light. Up to 3,000 K the light is yellow and warm, like a classic bulb. Above 4,000 K it turns white and cool, more suited to a kitchen or an office. In a living room, stay at 3,000 K or less and do not mix different temperatures in the same room.
An example
A living room with a sofa and a reading corner: the Zelia Lamp on the ceiling gives the general light, the alabaster lamp beside the armchair covers reading and two wall lights on the sofa wall add atmosphere. Over a dining table, hang the lamp about 75 or 80 cm above the table top so that it neither dazzles nor sits too far away.
Limits
The figures for each piece come from its technical sheet. The amount of light your room needs depends on its size, the colour of the walls and the natural light. With a dimmer you can adjust the intensity without changing the bulb.

Frequently asked questions
What light temperature is best for a living room?
Up to 3,000 K: it is a warm, yellow light. Above 4,000 K the light turns white and cool.
How many lamps does a living room need?
The usual approach is three types of light: general, task lighting for reading, and ambient. You can cover them with a ceiling light, a table lamp and wall lights.
How high should a lamp hang over the table?
75 to 80 cm above the table top, so it lights the table without dazzling.
